Thanks to all!!
The idea of another box is very good and very simple
(sometimes the solution is easier than what you thought :-). I have proposed
this idea to my leader and he has accepted to buy me another PC to bring up
another FW box. So, as Morten said, I have also the possibility to upgrade my
Checkpoint.
Thank you again

Hi
Rosa
How
about bringing up another box and let them run in parallell for a while
??
The
new box could be installed with the version you like, and you could run that
of an eval license (about 50,- or so) until you can move your current
license.
The
internal interface on your current FW box would have to change, but either way
you have to restart.
then
you would still be able to get mail (if you host a mail server) from networks
that are using cached DNS settings.
It's
not really perfect but you get a minimum of downtime as you could bring up
your perallel box up with the same internal IP number as you current fw and
only shift the cable when you are ready.
Just
an idea ;-)

Hi, I have a big problem. We work with
Checkpoint 4.0 on WinNT (we haven't upgrade the fw because we don't have a
backup and we cannot stop the service...) and now we have to change our
"transport provider" (I don't know if it's the right name). So we have to
change lines, router and public IP addresses, but we don't know how to
manage the transition period, while both providers are working (... we can't
stop the service ....), waiting for the complete passage to the new
"transport provider". We were thinking about setting 2 external IP addresses
to the Network Adapter. Does it work? And, if answer is YES, how can we
configure it?
Thanks in advance
