Thanks!

I know this site.

But My question is where the log file store when FW module and management
module are installed in different machine?

And My FW module is a UNIX Machine, not a NT machine. Only the management
module is installed in a NT Machine.

So My problem is when I run "fw logswitch" in the UNIX machine, it hang and
no new log generated.

So I want to clarify where the log store ?

Thanks!

Hi Anthony,

The following is taken from www.phoneboy.com a very good source of
information.

'fw logswitch' Does Not Work on NT
Q:
I try and do an 'fw logswitch' and it either fails with an error message or
fails entirely. How can I make this command work?
A:
There are two possible causes to this problem:
The service is not running as 'Administrator'
'fwd' is not running
Using the Task Manager in NT, verify that more than one fw.exe is running.
If one or no fw.exe processes exist, it is likely that the fwd process has
died. You will need to stop and restart the Check Point FireWall-1 Service
to resolve this.
You need to make the CheckPoint FireWall-1 service run as Administrator
instead of as the System Account. Go into "Services" in the Control Panels,
select "Check Point FireWall-1" and click on "Stop" to stop the service. Now
click on "Startup." In the resulting dialog box, select "Log On As This
Account" and select Administrator. Enter in the Administrator's password in
the dialog boxes. Click on "OK." Click on "Start" to restart the service.

hope this helps

cheers

Leon.

Subject: [FW-1] FW Log Question?

Hi

I installed a CPFW 4.1 + SP3 module in a RS/6000 Machine and installed the
management module in a Windows NT Machine (GUI Client still installed in the
management module).

Where the log store in? in NT (management module) or in FW module.

I found that if I open the log viewer in NT machine, I can rotated the log
by opening a new log and the old log will store in the NT.

However When I typed "fw logswitch" in the FW module, this process will hang
and no new log generated.

How can I rotate the FW module's log file because it is very large?

Thanks!
