despite any docs to the contrary , when we set a vpn we had to put a statis
route on the firewall for it.

Hi Derin,

Thanks for that ... I have been through the settings and rules again and now
encryption seems to be working OK - to be honest I'm not quite sure what
fixed it. It doesn't seem to be very reliable though ... is there some
routing entries I need to enter on the FW-1 server to the remote network do
you know? I can't see it in the instructions but it rings a bit of a bell
from somewhere in my past.

Cheers,

Tom.

Tom,

Have you defined the hash type for both IKE and IPSEC?

In CP 4.1 the IKE details are defined on the gateway, IPSEC is defined in
the rule (right client the Action->Encryption).

Hi All,

I am trying to set up a VPN between a FW-1 v4.1 server (win2k) and a
Symantec VPN appliance. I have followed Symantec's instructions but am
getting the above error on the FW-1 logs for Key Install actions. I have
configured MD5, shared secrets and DES.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks,

Tom.

P.S. This is my first message to the list, so please let me know if I'm "not
doing it right" :-)
