As for iptables, don't run a firwall on a firewall;-)

Check out these links:

Intall-FP3.pdf

Be fore-warned, the previous versions of these documents missed some rpm's
that are detailed in the release notes (e.g. sharutils). I have not looked
at these recently.

Keep your firewall load as tight as possible, only loading what you need. I
have had good luck running other applications, but have not tried things
like BW mgmt or traffic control.

Subject: [FW-1] CheckPoint & RedHat Linux

Hi,

I am thinking of running CheckPoint NG or NG SO on a
RedHat Linux 7.3 box.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to run other
Linux based network programs on this box? Like for
example Linux traffic control and bandwidth management
programs, tcpdump, iptables, etc.

Will these be able to interoperate well with the
CheckPoint or does the CheckPoint loadable module does
something strange to the OS?

Also, does anyone who has successfully run CheckPoint
on RedHat Linux 7.3 have any advice to give on what to
look out for or what not to do when running this
combination?

Thanks in advance!
