Two things you can do:

1. Post the error message you got. With it, people on this list may have a
better shot at helping you.

2. Ask someone at your place who is familiar with Unix to give your setup a
once-over.  S/he may pick up something you miss. (If you recall, on
fw1-wizards I suggested to look out for the permissions for /dev/fw0.)
