Is using Citrix SecureICA an option for you? If so, you can eliminate the
SecureRemote headaches altogether. In fact, after seeing all the problems
with SecureRemote installation, configuration and support, I'm really
surprised more people aren't looking at Terminal Services/Citrix as an
elegant solution to this ugly problem.

I've got many users (and clients) using 128-bit RDP to get to our W2K
Terminal server from the internet via DSL, Cable Modem and dial-up through
ISPs, and it's the simplest deployment I've had. Load the RDP client on the
user's machine (which they can do themselves - it's all of two floppy disks
and takes about 30 seconds with no reboot), enter an IP address, and voila,
connected. Painless, simple and since we use SecureID along with
high-encryption RDP, very secure. Doesn't change a thing on the user's PC,
and it just plain works.

Sorry to wander, but this really is an incredibly clean and simple solution
for remote users. The "killer sleeper feature" of W2K as far as I'm
concerned.

Just my 2 cents.

Subject: [FW1] VPN connections from W2K to FW1
Importance: High

We need to Set up VPN connections from W2K clients who travel, through a
Checkpoint FW-1 v4.1 to connect to a Citrix Metaframe Server behind the
firewall.

What will be our best the best way to connect through the firewall at this
point in time?

IS the SecureRemote Beta "Secure Enough"? Does it work?
Can I do it with PPTP, IPsec?
Is L2TP supported on FW-1?

Any help would be appreciated. Pressed timeline by the way. Thanks.
