Robert -
Thx for the reply. Yes, I finally found and started fwm daemon myself,
actually. Didn't start on boot (??) I'm struggling w/ an evaluation unit
from our vendor(nokia ip 440 + fw-1 ver 4.1) which has No accompanying
documentation. A bad setup, unfortunately, which isn't working. I had
created a user on the fw-1 box and can now connect via the GUI, tho' it's
doing me no good:
My current problem is that the policy manager has all its fields grey'd out
and won't let me do anything. If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate
it. If not, thx nonetheless.

Paul,
Is fwm running? I don't use a Nokia, but in the non-Nokia world, the fw
manager is the one listening on that port, not the fw module.
As for the user, don't you need to configure users on the fw manager for the
GUI to login?
