Hello,
I am new to the list and a fairly new user of Checkpoint FW-1. After
spending hours researching this problem on the Internet, I haven't been
able to find anything that has solved our problem. We are running FW1
version 4.0 with SP6 installed on an NT 4.0 machine with SP5.
Here is the problem:
FTP connections can be made, and files retrieved. However, randomly the
connection is reset and/or dropped. Also, certain FTP connections do
not work at all. An error message is returned to the browser stating
"connection reset by peer". However, accessing the same site from a
computer which is not located behind the FW1 machine works fine.
Another problem:
We receive a lot of FW-1 at (our hostname): Failed to connect to WWW
server.
Again, accessing the same site from a machine not located behind the
firewall works correctly. Is there a timeout value that needs set
somewhere?
I have read about some FTP problems caused by the return port being
defined as a service on FW1, but the info on the Internet about this
problem was sparse.
Thanks.
