Hi Stuart,
does it hang forever or just for about 1-2 minutes? If not forever then
it might be a problem with ident. Your ftp server tries to figure out
the remote username with ident. But your firewall drops idents. So the
server waits some time before continueing.
Try it with an extra rule in your Firewall: any any ident REJECT. Place
this rule before your ftp rule.
