The only immediate disadvantage I can think of is that it keeps all the old 4.0
code on your machine, taking up drive space. In fact, when I upgraded my
management module to 4.1, I could still launch my 4.0 policy editor! (not sure
what would happen if I tried to install the policy from there - perhaps nothing
- haven't been brave enough to try). I haven't seen any negative impact on the
stability or performance of the box, though.

Subject: [FW1] FW-1 4.1 - Compatability mode or not?
We have a number of 4.0 servers we are using, and would like to begin
testing with 4.1. Can anyone tell me why I would not want to install with
compatibility mode enabled? The wonderfully helpful Checkpoint manual says
I shouldn't if I can help it, but doesn't go into any details.
Thanks-
