This will give you the number of protected hosts:
   fw lichosts | awk '{print $5}' | sort | uniq | wc -l
For details, examine the output of fw lichosts. It contains multiple
entries for the hosts.
FW-1 never forgets, you may find host in the output that no longer exist in
your network.
You can make the firewall start counting the protected hosts from zero
again by deleting the files fwd.h and fwd.hosts in your $FWDIR/database
directory, then fwstop and fwstart.
