Hi,
We are installing a firewall cluster, with 2 Sun workstations. Each one has one interface card for each subnet, that will be connected to the subnet switches, in a rather ordinary way.
However, we still have some points of failure, i.e., the switches. If they fail, the servers will be isolated, and unreachable from the cluster. So we are thinking about using 2 switches for each subnet. So we have 2 alternatives:
1. Connect each firewall interface in a different switch (in this case, if a switch fails, would it be as if one of the firewalls had failed?)
2. Put, in each firewall, 2 interfaces in each subnet, so each firewall, in each subnet, would be connected to both switches. Considering that we are already using a cluster (Stonebeat), is this situation feasible?
Thanks in advance.
Jane.
