My question has to do with opinions regarding running
additional firewall modules on Solaris or NT. This is
not a thread to start a NT vs UNIX war... I need
honest opinions or experiences regarding this issue (I
use both OS's and don't have a problem with either),
here's a run down:
We currently have VPN-1 Enterprise Firewall installed
on a Sun E450 running Solaris 2.6. We have a
situation where we will be adding two additional
Firewall modules. Those who are paying for the
modules have decided to run these modules on Compaq
Servers (2x733MHz & 512MB) running Windows NT 4.0. I
am wondering if this will be a problem, such as
constant reboots, Microsoft security issues, etc.
Could I setup the two Firewall modules so that
Administrators for the area the modules will be
protecting could maintain them? or will the rulebase
have to be administrated by the primary Firewall
management module?
