Since Firewall-1 is not multi-threaded (yet) it is questionable whether you
would get any benefit from running multiple CPU's unless you are running
security servers, which spawn their own seperate daemons. I suppose there is
some benefit at the OS level, but we have not seen any major improvements in
running multiple CPU's.

Use of multiple CPU is very much dependant on the operating system you are
planning on using. Could you give a little more info.

Are there any guidelines available that discuss the benefits
of running FW-1 with multiple CPU's. Are there certain
versions that do this better than others?
Are there certain tasks that can be dedicated to a CPU
such as log file export or VPN encryption?

Thanks,
Pete M.
