Hi,
This is my first post to the list -- so hello all. I am a new-hire at a
building on CU's campus and have been put in charge of a firewall
installation. Basically they gave me a CD and said, "do it." No manuals
or anything. I got ahold of a book "Check Point Fireall-1 Administration
Guide" by Goncalves and Brown. I don't like the book at all, but then
again, I don't have ANY documentation.

Anyway, the machine I'm installing on is a SUN SPARCstation-5, it's called
"rime" and it's got a quad ethernet card in the back. They want this
thing directly between the subnet and the internet. Basically, fiber to a
hub (cause rime doesn't have a fiber card), then to rime, then to our
switch (subnet). They have a "Never expiring" stdmed250 license. Anyway,
got the packages installed, and ran fwconfig:

Licenses - taken care of
Administrators - root
GUI Clients - rime (they want it to be a Single Gateway)
External Interface - qfe1
SMTP Server - defaults
SNMP Extension - none
Groups - no group permissions
IP Forwarding - disabled
Default Filter - default setting
CA Keys - error: "fw: no license for 'ca'"

I don't know what this CA Keys deal is. Anyway, there's my rundown. Can
someone point me in the right direction as to what I should do to
successfully get a "bare bones" firewall up? I've TRIED to get ahold of
someone at Checkpoint but that's impossible. I looked at Checkpoint's
website for a PDF (or PS) installation manual, but to no avail. I've also
looked around the internet, but I guess nothin' beats that manual. Sorry
for the long post, and I'm just getting into firewalls (but I've
understood the concept for quite some time). Thanks for any help, I will
be able to clarify points if you've got questions. Thank you very much.
