I highly recommend the vulnerability scanner Nessus, http://www.nessus.org.
This tool has a great seclection of vulnerability scans you can run,
including a set of DoS utilities. It is very flexible, allowing you
to choose exactly which vulnerabilty check or DoS attacks you want to urn.
