Hello,
We've a problem here in that we try to let Unix RPC connections go through
FW-1 which also does static address translation for the inside host. On the
other end there's also a FW-1 which does also nat for his inside host:
server -- FW-1 (nat) --- Fw-1 (nat) -- client
For some reason is does not work. Snooping on the server shows that the
server still sees the _real_ address of the client - not the translated
address. On the other hand, I do see communications between the two boxes on
the translated addresses.
I think I'm getting a little confused here.
Anybody out there with experience with RCP in combination with FW-1 and NAT?
Regards,
Jeroen

Subject: [FW1] Socksifying all applications with FW1
Dear All,
Does anybody use SOCKS5 ? What are the good/bad points
of using scoks5 with FW1 ?
We are planning to have the following setup, please
let me know if it is a recommended setup or not ?
1 inside Socks5
2 FW1 with Rainwall
1 outside Socks5 in the DMZ
10 external subnets
All the subnets are talking to the sokcs5 in the DMZ.
The 2 socks5 are talking to each other through the
FW1.
There are no other traffic allowed through the FW1
complex,
except the traffic between the socks5.
So, what are the advantages and drawbacks ?
Thank you,
=====
