I don't know about "formal" documentation for this, but it's a fairly
standard configuration. You can either locate your proxy in a DMZ, or
on the internal network. Have the users authenticate to the proxy, then
allow the proxy to access the Internet via HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/SSH/etc. Is
that what you were asking?
