Hi,
I face the same problem on the update of our firewalls, but the proposed solution
(ln -s /bin/ln /usr/ucb/ln) doesntt work. After I create the link I get the same
Message that was discussed in this mail. Is there anything else I have to do? On my
solaris installation the /usr/ucb didnt even exist before I created it to make the
link.

thanks
Timo

Betreff: [FW1] SP2 upgrade not working (it is now :)

Well, just found the problem to my own question.
FW-1 requires the binary /usr/ucb/ln on Solaris
installations, even though there is a perfectly
good /bin/ln binary it could use. It appears
FW-1 4.1 will install and run fine without
/usr/ucb/ln, however the patch upgrade SP2
will barf if you did not install FW-1 4.1
with /usr/ucb/ln (the kernel modules in /etc/modules
has to be linked to /opt/CPfw1-41/boot/).

So, for you Solaris users, make sure you have
/usr/ucb/ln installed, or at least do this for
a fix.

ln -s /bin/ln /usr/ucb/ln

I'll update my documentation for Minimized Solaris
builds for FW-1 4.1

Offhand, anyone know the SUNW package name that has
/usr/ucb/ln for Solaris8?

'pkgchk -l -p /usr/ucb/ln` will give you the answer,
just don't have a Solaris8 system with /usr/ucb/ln
installed.

Thanks!

Subject: SP2 upgrade not working

I'm attempting to upgrade my 4.1 SP1 system to
SP2. However, the SP2 upgrade is giving me errors,
any words of wisdom? SP1 was working fine, not
sure why I am getting these errors. Yes, both
fw1bootd and fw1boot are both in /etc/init.d :)

Currently running on Solaris 8 Sparc
