I have run in to this problem before. You will have to completely change
the key in length and characters. this should help. When you try to fetch a
policy do it command line by typing:
fw fetch -d < IP or hostname >
This will give you a debug of the key exchange. You should be able to
figure it out from there.

Here is the problem.
Two nokia 440 running in high availability mode, running ipso 3.2.1
checkpoint 4.1 SP2, management station is on an NT server running in the
same address space.
After running cpconfig on first box, adding masters, creating secret key,
running various fw putkey options, the firewall will no longer accept the
rulebase from the management station, this is the error.
"firewall" tries to exchange a control security key, but has one.
Authentication failed.
It still works on the other box but i have not run cpconfig, I have edited
the files I needed to manually, or run command lines to complete the tasks.
I have looked on the phoneboy site and followed recovery options for fw
putkey/authentication problems but no deal.
Anyone out there ever seen this error, or know of a way around it.
Any help appreciated.
