I had the same issue on a 4.1 sp1 machine until I added memory for a customer. The machine has 128 mb supporting @200 users and 50 remote users. Upping the ram to 256 made the issues go away. Every day around 14:00 (after their busy time - lunch time browsing etc) the user auth falls over (or so it appears). when trying to browse, I see entries in the logs showing machines trying to connect to port 2603, which are dropped. The only thing to do is reboot the machine, after which everything works fine, and machines DO NOT try to connect to port 2603 at all. Can this be something to do with the auth daemon going berserk?
