Linksys's NAT is far from cheasy. I found firewall1's nat
CHEASY.
The
linksys works with PPTP and Win2000's IPsec VERY Well. I am
using
firmare 1.33 with logging enabled and i can get PPTP and
IPsec
just
fine. You do have to MANUALLY turn on those features. You
can
also
setup a DMZ machine and try using those protocols as well if
the
software you are running is Cheasy.
ON a
side note, just to let people know. The LinkSys DSL only
Costs
149
which includes 4 100mbit full duplex switched ports as well
as
NAT,
Port Forwarding and firewall features. With the new flash's
you
can
log traffic and all sorts of stuff.
Some
things to consider, try a DMZ machine internally and get
that
working before you try doing it from a firewalled box. Try using
static
ip
addresses instead of DHCP addresses as well. try disabling
hide
external interface, sometimes that may freak out a protocol in not
encapsulating
it
with your correct external interface if it is trying to use that as a
source
address.
There
are all sorts of things to checkout, but getting PPTP and IPsec
through
a
linksys was many times easier then through FW1 :)
And
you can't beat the price.
