Smurfing is when you send echo requests 
to a broadcasting domain with a fake IP (target hosts).
Then all the machines will answer with repley to
the target. If you have a couple of broadcating domains to
send to the bandwidth will get very high for the target machine 
and you have a successfull dos attack.

And Tim, I would find a more "custom friendly" ISP ;o, if I were you.
