Sorry, one other (more likely) possible explanation for the late collisions
is a duplex mismatch between your firewall machine and the hub/switch that
interface qfe1 is connected to.  If it's a hub, hard-set interface qfe1 to
half-duplex and the correct speed (10 or 100Mb).  If it's a switch, hard-set
interface qfe1 and the port on the switch to the same speed and duplex
(100Mb/full is preferred if available).
