Title: Protocol 47 ?????
Protocol 47 is the Generic Routing Encapsulation protocol or GRE for short.  It is used primarily to tunnel traffic from non-adjacent routers without being affected by the transit routers.  It is often used to pass routing information and to allow communications between 2 non-routable networks.

To my knowledge GRE offers virtually no encryption of the data.  For that you need IPSEC or some other security mechanism.
