THere
is a number of steps you will need to complete to get this working. I did,
but it did take some trial and error.
First,
upgrade to the latest bios version of the firmaware on the linksys. Go
here:
This
upgrade is sepcifically for VPN access.
Next,
check out http://www.freeswan.org page and
grab the latest release (1.8). YOu need a 2.2.17 or later kernel (not sure
about the 2.3.x kernels though) - so you will need 6.2 or later and need to be
comfortable building a kernel.
I
would recommend you install the Securemote client on a winblows box first to
make sure you upgraded the Linksys properly and that it is passign VPN
traffic. When that is for sure, you can work on free s/wan and get it
working.
I have
simplified this process greatly. It took me the better part of a weekend
getting it to work, but I didn't know about free s/wan or the linksys firmware
upgrade when I started and that should be half the battle.

Subject: [FW1] VPN- FW1, Linksys DSL Router, and Linux client
Has anyone had any experience with this?
I have a user who has a home Linux system connecting to the Internet through a Linksys DSL Router. He wants to VPN to our internal network through CP FW1 which sits on an NT box.
Any suggestions?
