You can monitor your firewall using the "System Status" application if you
don't want to use SNMP.
Anyway, I am really interested in knowing the performance of several
firewalls (Sun boxes), but I don't know if it is possible to use MRTG to
know the CPU utilization and throughput. I know the traffic (bits per
second)that need to pass through the firewall, and I don't know if my
machines will be able to resist.
Does anybody know if there is some way to determinate this performance?
perhaps with MRTG? How?
Any idea to design the firewall box?

Greetings.
We need to monitor our Firewall. We are running IPSO 3.3, fw-1 4.1 sp2. We
need to use a tool that will not need SNMP running on the firewall. Someone
suggested to me that I install MRTG on the firewall itself.
Can you please point me in the direction of the FAQ's for doing this. And
also, please advice me on wether this is a good idea or not.
