The problem I was having - "arp -a" slow and a traceroute
latency problem is resolved. Most of the responses I got were
related to IP resolution.
I did not think it was a DNS problem for several reasons
like already displaying a bunch of non resolvable names etc. I
did, however, add names to the hosts table but I still had a
problem. I couldn't change nsswitch to define files firsts because
of the way we have dns set up. So I made a reverse look up table
just for these addresses, restarted named and the problem is fixed.
