You should get lsof and find out the number of open file descriptors.
Checkpoint does recommend that you increase the file descriptor limit
to 32768 or 16384, I believe. It's also posible that you are runnig into
some buggy mutex implementation. If you have anough time to play with it,
I would definately be interested in what the results are.
Cheers.

Subject: [FW1] fwm crashing with fd error
Hi,
I checked the archives, and though I can see a few
other people have had this problem, I can't find if
anyone solved it. So...
On my firewall (FW1 4.1 sp4 on Solaris 2.6) the fwm
process occasionally dies. It leaves a log message
saying:
fwm: Unable to get set on fd 9
Sometimes the number is different, but it's always
around 9. The crash usually happens while the NT
GUI is communicating with fwm, so it looks like fwm
is somehow running out of open files. But the ulimit
for file descriptors is set at 256.
Anyone any clue why else fwm would be doing this?
Cheers,
Cybele.
