Ryan,
I've seen those errors on my 3Com nics for as long as I can remember. 
Trying a different driver will sometimes clear it up. 3Com's driver is at 
http://support.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/linuxdownloads.htm. Another 
driver is at http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/#3c59x-bc The driver's 
page at http://www.scyld.com/network/vortex.html lists that error as a 
typical problem and says it's normally a Duplex mismatch, so you may want 
to check that too.
