Hey Gerard,
You should join in at #zftalk.dev and continue this conversation with
Benjamin Eberlei. He was originally authoring Zend_Entity, but has
recently dropped this development in favor of Doctrine integration.
I think we'll soon see a proposal on here:
http://framework.zend.com/wiki/display/ZFPROP/Home
for a more complete look at what the integration points will be. As you
can see already, there are some pieces that have been proposed, but not
a full stack.
Do you have your own tools for code generation? or are you using Zend_Tool?
Lets keep the discussion going.

Hi all,
I am considering building an open source toolkit to easily generate back
ends for Doctrine (for now version 1), based on Zend Framework. I think
this is something that is missing still, but I am not really sure it is
really something people would welcome.
Some basic features would be generating lists and forms for any given
model. One design goal is that it easily portable to other frameworks
and data mapper paradigms, and that it chooses programmability over
configurability; meaning it would provide sensible entry points for your
own classes at any given level.
I have started writing some code and documenting some things already, as
I was fortunate to get some time from my employer to do this, but it
wouldn't be sensible to continue this before knowing there are people
out there feeling this would bring something good to the community :-)
Please feel free to share your opinion, I am all ears.
