There was a report of similar behavior that was related to the gpg pinentry thing, and this thread is interesting: http://lists.gnupg.org/pipermail/gnupg-users/2007-April/030927.html I'll install a Centos 6.3 VM to try and reproduce this (was supposed to work on this a while ago but haven't gotten around to it yet).
