Call Apple and complain loudly. They'll probably offer to send you a new AC adapter package - they did that for me, and my PowerBook was second-hand and out-of-warranty. If you kindly explain to them that without an AC adapter your fine Apple PowerBook is pretty much useless, they usually agree and send you a new one. (Adapter, not PowerBook. I wish.) The new adapter I have is different from the old one - the plugs on the adapter are conical instead of rounded, and the AC cable is about 3 times longer, light grey, and has lots of stress relief at the plugs, especially where it enters the AC adapter. If you have an old AC cable, the dark grey-blue one, try to get the new revision power cable - it works a lot better.
