Background: I have a PB G3/400 firewire (pismo) running 9.2 system. It has an internal HD that is 6 Gig.
I have an empty portable 3.5" enclosure with all the assorted wires and cables inside and two firewire ports are set up in it. The problem is that I don't have a hard disk, yet. I was thinking of removing my 6 gig and putting it in the external and getting a 30 gig and putting it into my internal. But, the external has some things that are going to confuse me: 1) A female connector with 4 opening that go to four wires (red, black, blue and yellow). 2) A female connector that has 2 opening leading with two wires (black and red). 3) A female connector that has about 40 openings that has a ribbon attached to it -- the ribbon is all gray except for some red tinge on one side of the ribbon. 4) I bag of silica gel that I have not eaten or been tempted to eat. Now, Can I buy a 3.5 inch disk to put into my pbG3 and put my 6 gig in this enclosure and not have lots of wires and parts left over? Does anyone have a used 30 gig disk they want to sell cheap? If not, who does? Will instructions come with the disk? I have a 500 meg disk I took out of my pb190 years ago and it has a different number of pins and there is no place to plug in all the other plugs that are in the enclosure. Any advice will be appreciated, dh P.S. On the box for the enclosure it has printed: IEEE-1394 MAP-63B/MAP-63C And a bunch of other stuff I don't understand but it looks like this enclosure will handle any disk ever made, except my pb 500 meg one. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
