My daughter's clamshell iBook has suffered a cracked lcd. The unit still
works, and the rest of it is in excellent condition. Repair by Apple will
cost more than a complete used replacement iBook, so I am weighing some
alternatives:

1. Purchase a replacement lcd (12.1" TFT?) and attempt to install it
myself. Do any of you have experience doing this?

2. Send the unit to a non-apple repair service, such as macresq.com or
ibook.gobot.com. Have any of you used these repair services?

3. Buy another used iBook (rev 2 Blueberry), possibly with missing cables
or other non-lcd problems, make 1 good one and keep the other for parts.
There's someone from Tennessee named finalcall who sells these through
Amazon - have any of you dealt with him?
