After reading some of the posts here on battery life I was reminded to check
my second battery since I normally run with my CD/DVD player installed. It
was almost depleted so I put it in to charge overnight and left the computer
in sleep mode. When I went to check my machine the next morning, something
really strange started happening. All on it's own it started to rename
everything on the desktop with gibberish, something like "81ki,81ki,"
starting with my hard drive and going on to other things on the desktop. I
quickly shut the machine down and restarted it and it continued to do the
same thing so I shut it down pulled the battery and reset the power manager.
The indicator lights showed it as being fully charged, but I decided to use
the other one that I had been using before. I was able to restart and rename
the files back to what they were originally and the problem has not recurred
but I am very hesitant about trying that other battery again. I had
installed 10.2 about a week before and I have not had any problems relating
to 10.2 and I really don't think this is either. I'm curious as to wether
anyone else has experienced a similar thing and if it was related to a
flakey battery.
