Andrew, I installed mine two days ago. More noise than the 12GB toshiba it replaced, but still acceptable for my uses. And a bit faster, of course, and I can now consolidate all my digital video, music, and photos on the internal drive. Now I can just shuttle and backup to the 20 and 12GB pocket drives, which is a plus when I'm on the go, about 30% of my use. I wouldn't give up the storage and speed for the sound, but your noise level and considerations may vary, of course. Best of luck however it turns out.
