You may have slightly worse than my experience. I had my battery die 
after about a year (replaced it with a BTI), and my DVD/CDROM drive also 
died (Before that, but not sure why). Got it replaced (just barely under 
warranty, also the LG, and got another LG as a replacement. I'm coming up 
on 2 years in Feb. 2003, and the replacement drive has been working fine 
- though sure, I would've liked it better to have received the Matshita...

How about other things that might make the drive go bad for Ryan (I know, 
besides apparently poor design/construction)?? Anyone?
