Testers or veterans of this: Anomaly or not? My pismo 500/1gb/20gb/dvd surprised me yesterday by showing peculiar stats on my Gauge Pro software from newer technologies. A linux buddy was visiting and I mentioned the memory testing of the program and then started gaugepro up and to my astonishment, the CPU speed showed 512 mhz and like a 105 mhz Bus speed (Every previous time it has always been 499.93 (or .94) mhz and 99.9 mhz, respectively. It says the reading should be accurate to within a tenth. I hit 'recalculate' and it remained.
I was tripping out for a second and before I wrote down the numbers (idiot!), I said out loud that 'I seem to have more crashes when I am plugged in to AC...' and then pulled out the plug from the back of the pismo and the speed ratings returned to normal (499/99). I then went to energy saver and made sure that processor cycling was turned off (to confirm that this could be something else). It was OFF for battery but ON for power adaptor. Thought about it today, tried to recreate it but it doesn't. (yes OFF and ON should be switched for most reasons - I was trying to solve crash problems with settings like that last week) Was it me? Processor cycling shouldn't accelerate to a higher speed, should it? It was like it was overclocked, ya'know? I'll keep my eye on this 'cause I am starting to think this is one of the main problems with my pismo and I can finally put some portion of my finger on it and try to explain it to Apple. Notions? Ideas? Experience? Knowledgebase? Thanks everyone. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
