While I wouldn't quite using OSX without WindowShade X, I have to say it's well worth the $7 shareware fee. I love that it adds control over drop shadows and adds additional minimize options. I use the windowshade option, mostly while browsing the internet. Another shareware I love by the same folks is FruitMenu.
