I would suggest keeping virtual memory OFF if you have 192 MB of RAM. 192 MB is plenty for basic usage in OS 9. However, here are the basic points about virtual memory: 1. If you are running really a lot of programs at once, even 192 MB might not be enough and you'll want more. Then you might want virtual memory on. 2. I find that if I set virtual memory to the minimum amount (1 MB above my physical memory), that the OS takes much less memory to operate but I don't see a performance hit. You might want to do that to preserve some memory. 3. If you get low on physical memory, it causes a crash. If you have virtual memory on, it's much less likely to crash because you'll have more memory available, but the computer might slow down to the point of being unusable.
