Ah, so that's it. 10.2 killed support for YOUR drive, so not exactly
a case of Apple "has been scaling back support for non-Apple CD-RWs
in every release of OS X" as you said in your previous post.

The best way to check for supported CDRWs - and to find modified OS
10.x Disk Burner and iTunes plug-ins for a particular drive to make
it work in 10.x - go to www.xlr8yourmac.com and look under Drive
Compatibility Database. There you'll find hundreds of user reports on
specific drives with specific Macs, as well as links to the modified
plug-ins that make most drives work with X Disk Burner and iTunes.

The original questioner, a Pismo owner, might also want to check out
portable firewire CDRWs: e.g., the Lacie Pocket CDRW, which comes in
different speeds (up to 24x burning, IIRC) and has had pretty good
reviews. More expensive than non-portable drives though.
