actually read your warranty sometime. taking a machine apart - 
powerbook or otherwise - does NOT void the warranty. the catch is that 
any damage you do during your dissection is not covered by the 
warranty, the same as any damage caused by dropping the thing.

simply upgrading your hard drive, despite what's needed to do so, will 
not void your warranty..... so long as you don't botch the operation.
