Hello List: >From time to time you have all answered my inquiries about the Lombard/Pismo series. I was looking to upgrade a bit (from a Wallstreet). The main thing I wanted was built-in USB and DVD support. Also, I wanted the smaller, lighter form factor.
Anyway, I did a trade in/upgrade with MacResq for a 400 mhz Lombard and couldn't be happier. It has 192 megs right now, but I notice 128 of it is in the lower slot and I just happen to have 128 meg module for the upper slot laying around. Can anyone point me to a Lombard upgrade page? OS 10.2.3 runs noticeably faster, and I plan to go to 10.2.4 next chance I have time to tinker with it. Downside: 6 gig drive. (I am bidding on a Travelstar on eBay even as we speak.) The 67 mhz bus speed is a downer, too. I suspect that 400 mhz processor could really rock in a faster logic board. The Pismo series looked good to me as well. They are priced rather high for their age, IMO. Looks like a lot of people still want that classic case. In any event, I think all the pink screen stories I read here made me pass the Pismo. This is probably pointless on my part; my tech guy says he has *never* seen a Pismo come into his shop with a case of pink screen.
