My (Fujitsu) harddrive in my pbook expansionpack suddenly started to make a
loud clicking noise and is now no longer recognized by the system. I guess
it has died or is there still something I could try. The warranty has
expired, unfortunately :-(
when a hard drive dies with clicking or clacking sounds, the issue turns out to be what's called a head crash. This is a mechanical problem with the drive and, unfortunately, is unrecoverable. Even DriveSavers says that a head crash means slim chances for data recovery in their clean rooms.
