Does Batttery Direct have this as part of their regular services or is it something that this specific store does?
Don't know, but it wasn't any cause for special comment. They just tool the battery and told me when I could pick it up. They apparently do the same with video camera batteries, from what I'm told.
Do you have any other information that might be helpful for other Canadians living close to a Battery Direct?
Not really. I was just in the local Simply Computing store (a Mac only reseller, for you non-Canadians) pricing a replacement battery, when the clerk recommended this option. Apparently, he'd sent several people there.
