had same problem recently - same click of death.  i'm now back to my 
old reliable pismo.

anyone knows of a good drive replacement for the tibook (60-80G)?

I have.  I happened on my TiBook 550.  I replaced it with a Toshiba 
drive
and (although not the quietest drive in the world) it is still working 
fine.
