Can you provide more detail about the 12 volt jumpstart/camping unit? I have long used an auto adapter, especially on long trips when someone else is driving. I don't understand about the "camping unit".

I use one all the time when I can with my WallStreet. It is a 12V lead-acid gel cel in a plastic box with a built in charger and a car cigarette lighter outlet. I've got a three way splitter I plug into it and then my computer and cell phone (for remote dialup access) plug into that. Aside from giving you more run time it also saves wear and tear on your laptop battery. Most have jumper cables to use to jump start your car. I removed those as a potential problem if they got shorted. Auto supply and discount stores tend to have them. The main feature for use with a laptop is the Amp-Hour rating, the more the better. Although you'll also want to consider the weight.

You can use an inverter with it to get 110VAC and then plug the regular laptop power supply into that. I prefer using a car adapter as it is one less thing laying around.

MCE Technologies has an car adapter for $30 at:
