Wallstreet internal Mic OS X

I apologize if this has already been covered, but can you use the 
internal Mic on a Wallstreet with OS X?  I decided I would try iChatAV 
and use the voice part, but I can't seem to get the Mic to respond.  I 
went into the System preferences and under Sound confirmed that the 
internal Mic was selected, but there is no indication under the test 
lights that the internal Mic is working.
