I've finally joined the portable world, having purchased an 867 TiBook from the Apple refurb site. I bought mine on the day of the AluBook announcement, and other than some problems with Apple's finance department being prompt, it's been a great purchase.
I upped the RAM to 512 MB as I'm too broke to max the RAM at this point. I also purchased an Airport card and a Linksys wireless router. It's priceless being able to use your computer anywhere in the house and have access to my old box and the internet.
My friend just got a 15" AluBook (1.25 GHz) and other than the speed boost and back-lighted keyboard, I think I got the better machine. His is noticeably thicker and heavier. The screen does look a tad brighter, but the TiBook LCD is already a huge leap for me having used CRT's for so long.
Well, it feels good to be an owner after so long loooking in....
